English Language Learners

In the present age of globalization, schools and classes are becoming increasingly multicultural and multilingual. When a student of a different cultural background studies in an educational system of another culture, he or she has to face a different teaching style, class environment, learning style and most of all language. “The educational system of a country reflects the culture of the country.” (Bennet, 2002), and hence culture plays an important role in the learning style of a student. Scholars believed that the culture and the behavior of the individual in this culture are the major factors that affect the learning habits and abilities.
Modern languages, as a matter of fact, cannot remain in isolation and grow at the same time because they are developed through their daily-use by different groups. The language falls into limbo when it loses its speakers. The loss of language may not necessarily be a natural phenomenon but it is not something pleasant. Moreover, the causes of its limbo are often beyond the control of language speakers in question. One can then hypothesize that the protection of linguistic miscellany - and thus of particular languages, especially those known risk - as a World Heritage Site is one of the common responsibility of the community of nations. In other words, maintaining an uncommon or minority language is not apparent from the sole responsibility of the community which speaks that language (although it will maintain its language is a prerequisite) but the whole society.
One of the most famous building of a less common language or threatened, is supported by the school. In this regard, we often speak of education in mother tongue. This term, however, is not without a number of issues, which will be the object of our thinking at first. The second part will focus on the benefits of including the mother tongue of students who belong to linguistic minorities in educational systems in majority language. In a third step, we will ask the assessment of child bilingualism as an outcome of a common mother-tongue education in the context of another dominant language. Finally, we will compare the pros and cons of different forms of bilingual education or bilingual programs.
Due to the growing need of a completely appropriate education to implement educators prefer to choose and use well-written and detailed multicultural literature in their classrooms with students from different cultures in America. This specially planned multicultural literature is being successfully used by the instructors in primary school are adding-on their literacy programs with the illustrative books that portray the living style and physical outlook  of different families .
Each student is born with a different innate learning capacity. However, the culture, socio-economic dimensions and his overall background play a catalytic in forming the learning style of a particular student. For instance, the parental economic stability and level of education is not a decisive factor for the child’s success in school. Rather, sociologists refer to cultural capital as a cornerstone that children inherit from them. 
Students coming off rich classes do not only learn to read in their premature schooling years but they are also able to read relevant books and visit museums. They also have openness towards socializing with their peers due to the inheritance of cultural capital from their parents. “Their early family life and parenting styles inculcates in them the values and personality traits that are require students to excel in their school lives.” (Blau, 2002).
Quite glaringly, children whose primary language is not English and are acquainted with a slight spoken use of the language are bound to face enormous difficulties while studying in the schools of United States.  Mathematics achievements too can be negatively affected if they continue to speak their primary language at home. The language barriers are more subtle.  
English-Speaking students who belong to minority or economically struggling families may confront language discontinuities in school.  Put simply, it creates a lot of discrepancy between the way they learn English at school and how they impede their progress by speaking their own primary language at home.
This discrepancy between the language used at home and in the classroom may result in grave troubles for such children. This is an alarming situation for the authorities. US government is trying its utmost to close the achievement gap of the racial minorities. Several Programs have been funded by the department of education to assist students in the need of learning English Language.
Every immigrant in United States must enable themselves to study their mother tongue but also they should be able to speak the official language of United States of America, English. Strong models of bilingual education, that seek to equip the future adult with real responsibility bi / multilingual and, in particular, mastery of both languages ​​should be implemented whenever possible.
What should an ideal English Teacher do?
The ideal English teacher must understand that the language of instruction is of utmost importance and mastery of this language is should be treated as means to project communication processes in the classroom and for the construction of knowledge by students. Much research has established that the types of education based on mother tongue notably boost the chances of school success ensuring better results. He/she must be able to comprehend the cultural differences among their pupils and deal with them accordingly. Though, the language of instruction should always remain English but pupils coming off non-English backgrounds must not only be encouraged to learn English they should not be discouraged from speaking their own languages as well.
In American society, the common practice of the language is the major requirement for the integration of children whose primary language differs from the language of the country or region. Much research, however, lead to the same result: immediate schooling of these children in a language they do not know, or not at all, seriously jeopardize their academic success. They must understand that bilingual education focuses on language and provides the basis for a long-term success. Recent studies have revealed that the ideas that every language is related to a specific culture and bilingualism ultimately excludes two cultures are both false. The idea that bilingualism or multilingualism is a source of problems is also incorrect, but rather an asset.
Due to the heterogeneous composition of the classrooms of The Center it has become essential for teachers and institutes today to realize the importance of the cultural as well as biological differences that collectively contribute and play an integral role in their potentials of learning as well as development.
The ideal English teacher teaches non-native students how to be critical thinkers, to be moral agents and communally aware activists committed to making society a model driven by principles of democracy for diverse people. Diversity Education and Training, Cultural and Social Justice Programs and Student Success Programming are some more components that an ideal English teacher must have.
